Character Interaction
As part of a workshop that included drawing, a group of people were sat in front of one person who made lots of different faces of which the group then had to copy. As the individual was sat with their back to the audience it was very funny to watch all of the groups faces change to the same expression. It was also interesting to watch because each person in the group portrayed the expression slightly differently to one another, some being
As they main focus of my character interaction analysis I have chosen to study my nephews who are 4 and 1. As they are much younger, its very interesting to see how the interact with things differently to how we would. I also did a series of tasks where the youngest was handed different objects from an adult showing the comparison of how the adult can deal with the weight and how the infant does.
Throwing a Ball
It's interesting to see that the main difference between the infant and the adult throwing the ball is how much power and effort they put into throwing it. As the ball is very light to the adult and he is aware he's throwing it to the infant, he uses very little power and throws it at a lower point. The infant however, uses his back to throw the ball right over his head, fully extending his arms. Passing a Basket
When passing the basket, the infant was also holding the ball so would find the task much more difficult to begin with although it would help keep his balance more when holding the heavier object in the other hand.
When he is passed the object it falls to the floor straight away whilst he is holding it and the infant isn't prepared for the adult to let go and so keeps exerting the downward pulling force. However, when on the floor, the infant finds it much easy to manoeuvre the basket, dragging it in front of him to then make it easier to lift up again. Passing a Wooden Toy
The wooden toy is a much heavier object and so when the infant receives it, he almost hits himself in the face because of his slower reaction speeds. He also is able to lift it much higher than previous objects, easier because he turns around with it as he lifts it, creating momentum to aid the lift.

Passing a Ball
The adult holds the ball very softly on the edge of one side of the ball, with both hands on it. When infant grabs the ball, his grip is much firmer both both hands closer to the center of the ball.
Passing a Bottle of Water
When reaching the bottle, the infant takes a step forward, giving him much more balance to hold the object. He then quickly pulls it down once given the object, again reacting slightly later than when the adult lets go. He interestingly takes it straight to his mouth having identified what the object is, but hands it back when he gets nothing out of it. When handing it back, again he steps forward to get closer and more balance to lift it up higher.
Passing a Flower
This is a more comical character interaction as the infant is passed the flower which he mistake for something edible and is stopped quickly by the adult when he tries to put it in his mouth. He then proceeds to give back the object when he realises that he cannot eat it.
