Story Writing
Here is the final version of the story that I decided to develop and create my characters around. It's based on a childhood story of mine, where I was camping in the garden with my sisters and got afraid of a hedgehog clicking on the security light near the tent.
The Lonely Monster
Screams flooded the garden.
It was so loud it made my ears hurt.
My hideous shadow of spikes engulfed the tent.
They must feel so trapped, as if they were imprisoned within a deadly room of confinement.
My horrifying, black silhouette was so big and brutal I squeezed my eyes shut as tightly as I could to try and hide from it.
I wanted to disappear, vanish, so they forgot that I was ever here and would stop being so terrified.
I’m so sorry.
I only wanted to be their friend.
To join in with their jokes ad giggles and stay up all night sharing harmless scary stories.
But the monster of their nightmares was I.
No one ever came near me in fear of getting hurt.
Nobody knew that my spikes were only for protection, not violence.
Their screams became louder as they emerged from the tent, fleeing for safety.
I shrank into the smallest gap, shivering from the fright of my own image.
Maybe I should always stay hidden.
I never meant to scare them.
I’m just a shy little hedgehog.

Reference Videos
In order to be able to study the movement well, I took videos of three different people doing a star jump to be able to compare them. I tried to choose subjects that are different height, weight and age.
Phases of a Star Jump
